Reach & Touch 2008 opens in Shanghai on Oct.19-21

Reach & Touch 2008 co-organized by China National Textile & Apparel Council, China National Garment Association, China Textile Information Center and China Textiles Development Center will be held in Shanghai Pudong Exhibition Center on Oct. 19-21, 2008.
After 30 years of rapid development, Chinese textile & apparel industry are now undergoing a tough but critical time to make strategic plans for structural transformation and upgrading of the industry. A common problem faced by all the companies is to transform from Made-in-China mode to Created-by-China style.
Under such circumstances, Reach & Touch 2008 divides into three parts: Visual Exhibition, Creation & Fashion Summit, and ME & CITY China Fashion Design Contest, in order to promote the technical innovation, enhance brand value, present cheerful achievements and discuss about the future development.
Visual Exhibition connects upstream and downstream companies
In Visual Exhibition, both upstream and downstream companies in the industry chain, for the purpose of guiding fashionable lifestyle, will show their most creative work to visitors all over the world.
Garment Space, a sub-exhibition under Visual Exhibition separates into five parts: Showcase of Brands & Enterprises, Display Area of Famous Domestic Fashion Designers, Display Area of Notable International Fashion Designers, Display Area for Award-Winning Works of ME & CITY China Fashion Design Contest, and Showroom for Apparel-Related Colleges.
15 representative brands of BAOXINIAO, SINOER, LILANG, JOE|ONE, SEPTWOLVES, HODO, SEMIR, AIMER, HEMPEL, FAMORY, RYB, MOMOCO, ZUOAN, GUSSING and ARRTCO are to illustrate their understandings of modern life style respectively through showcases.
At the same time, a group of outstanding Chinese creative fashion designers will join the event, including Ji Wenbo, Wu Xuewei, Wu Xuekai, Guo Yuanzheng, Wu Haiyan.
In addition, Didier Grumbach, President of The Fédération française de la couture, du pret-a-porter des couturiers et des créateurs de mode (French Federation of Fashion and of Ready-to-Wear of Couturiers and Fashion Designers) decides to lead 10 foreign fashion designers to participate in Reach & Touch 2008.
Donghua University, Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University and other domestic apparel-related colleges will integrate local creative elements into the event as well.
Fabrics Space in the Visual Exhibition, also known as Innovative Design Exhibition of China Fashionable Fabrics, where people can enjoy the most advanced design forces and the strongest R&D capabilities, fully demonstrates the achievements of fabrics companies in the upstream of apparel industry chain. Fabrics Space indeed provides a top-level communication platform for the suppliers of textile & fabrics, and garment enterprises.
Fashion Summit opens new thoughts on industry development
China Fashion Forum • Fashion & Creation Summit, one of the greatest activities in Reach & Touch 2008, will unveil itself on Oct. 19, 2008, with the theme of "Value Promotion by Creation".
The most authoritative industry leaders, art masters and entrepreneurs of most creation, and senior mass media people shall present in the Fashion Summit. Du Yuzhou, president of China National Textile and Apparel Council, Didier Grumbach, president of Fédération française de la couture, du pret-a-porter des couturiers et des créateurs de mode, Masayuki Kurokawa, famed Japanese architect and industrial designer, and Béatrice Querette, founder of goods sales by instinct concept, etc. shall make great speeches in the themes of "Communication and Value Realization of Fashion and Creation" and "Creation, Design and Brand Value". Victoria Yung-Chih Lu, renowned fashion critic and former creative director of MOCA Shanghai and Bund 18 in Shanghai, Shun-Ying Hsu, one of the most famous creatives and chief creative officer of Ogilvy Fashion & Lifestyle, Cai Ming, board chairman of Kebao Boloni Group, and Xie Chaoqun, president of ARTINI China Co., Ltd. will conduct special dialogue of "How creation promotes the brand value". In the meantime, designers from France are to publish their opinions on "creative design applied in practice".
Design Contest reveals the trend of modern life
The first ME & CITY China Fashion Design Contest, organized by China National Garment Association, is a high-end activity in Chinese creative design. Held for the young designers from creative brands and new college designers, the contest selects the theme "imagine new city life" and closely follows the concept "design the modern life" of Reach & Touch 2008.
The jury members of the organizing committee are also more diversified than ever before, including not only the international famous designers cooperating with Chinese brands and the designer representatives of most international influence, but also the design masters, chief editors of fashion magazines, producers of fashion programs and representatives of noted design academies.
The award ceremony presents itself on the evening of Oct. 19, 2008, and the award-winning works are to be displayed in the static exhibition of ME & CITY China Fashion Design Contest in Reach & Touch 2008 to be held at Shanghai Pudong Exhibition Center on Oct. 19-21. And, the creation will continue its concept of "life tree". The 300-square-meter exhibition area appears as a whole in modern and concise style with main colors of black, white and grey.
