The Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon visits China Pavilion

On the afternoon of September 1 local time in Spain, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon visited China Pavilion at the World Expo 2008 Zaragoza, the curator of China Pavilion Zu Diansheng welcomed the Secretary-General and accompanied him as he toured China Pavilion.

The Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was invited to participate in activities related to United Nations Day, he specifically put forward the request of visiting China Pavilion, United Nations Pavilion, Korea Pavilion and Spain Pavilion. He visited China Pavilion as the first stop.

The curator Zu Diansheng, on behalf of China Pavilion, expressed warm welcome to the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon .The Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon greeted with Chinese words "ni hao". Expo organizing committee originally intended to ask the Secretary- General Ban Ki-moon to stay in front of China Pavilion for mere two minutes, meet with the curator of China Pavilion and take a group photo. When the curator Zu Diansheng invited the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to visit China Pavilion if time allowed, he accepted the invitation with pleasure and immediately stepped into China Pavilion. The staff of China Pavilion gave a briefing on the theme of China Pavilion and the main contents of the pavilion. After hearing that Dujiangyan, the water interactive installation displays, is just in Sichuan Province, the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that, he ever went to Sichuan for inspection after Wenchuan earthquake this year. He also stood on measuring instrument with great interest, measuring body moisture content.

At Shanghai World Expo exhibition stand, the curator Zu Diansheng introduced that preparations for the Shanghai World Expo is going on in an active and orderly manner, and currently more than 210 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation. Ban Ki-moon expressed admiration, and said that the success of the Beijing Olympics is China's pride, also the pride of the United Nations; there are two years left for the Shanghai World Expo preparations, it is believed that it will be very successful by then. The curator Zu Diansheng thanked the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for his long-term and warm friendship with the Chinese government and people, and the United Nations for providing assistance to the earthquake-stricken area Wenchuan.

When leaving China Pavilion, Ban Ki-moon expressed appreciation in Chinese words "xie xie” and waved.
