On the noon of September 4, local time, the Spanish Crown Prince Felipe and his wife, Crown Princess Letizia, paid a visit to the China Pavilion at the Zaragoza World Expo, welcomed and then accompanied by Mr. Zu Diansheng, head of the pavilion. The China Pavilion was the first stop during their visit to the Expo Park.
Mr. Zu Diansheng extended a warm welcome to the Crown Prince and Princess on behalf the China Pavilion. Staff of the pavilion gave the Crown Prince and Princess a detailed introduction to the theme of the China Pavilion and various exhibits at different exhibiting zones. The royal couple experienced the interacting facilities of hydraulic projects with great interest. The Crown Prince also asked about the Three Gorges Dam Project.
After watching the publicity film of the Shanghai World Expo, the Crown Prince, deeply impressed, asked the staff about the meaning of the Shanghai World Expo Mascot Haibao. The Crown Princess said that she was looking forward to the Shanghai World Expo after she confirmed with the staff that the area covered by the Shanghai World Expo would be 13 times as much as that of Zaragoza.
Standing in front of the table of the Shanghai Expo, Mr. Zu Diansheng introduced the preparation progress of the Expo to the Crown Prince and Princess and made an appointment with the royal couple inviting them to visit the Shanghai World Expo in 2010. The Prince accepted the invitation with delight. He then talked about his leading the delegation attending the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games and he considered the Beijing Olympics a complete success and hoped the Shanghai World Expo would be one, too.
At the end of their visit, Mr. Zu Diansheng gave a souvenir to the Crown Prince and Princess on behalf of the China Pavilion. The Prince said thank you in Chinese and the Princess said that the blue-and-white porcelain plate was beautiful.
The arrival of the Crown Prince and Princess was heartily welcomed by the local Spanish people. Visitors stopped outside the China Pavilion to cheer on both sides of the road.
