The Chinese government through the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) has announced a new registration procedure for cotton exporters to China. Starting on September 15, cotton exporters will be required to register with the AQSIQ. All exporters will have to provide proof of its business organization in its home country, have a permanent business location, its business scale, supply sources and management structure. It appears this action is part an effort to avoid quality defaults. The AQSIQ will develop a ranking system of suppliers in meeting the quality of cotton delivered unsold.
