670,000 SMEs closed down in the first half of the year nationwide

The statistics recently issued by the State Development and Reform Commission showed that effected by factors such as the slowdown global economy and domestic macro-control and restructuring, a significant portion of SMEs faced difficulties like capital chain breaks, and in the first half of this year the growth rate of industrial added value of some sizable SMEs was only close to 30 percent, 15 percent decreased compared to the last year.


Principal official of SMEs Division said, according to preliminary statistics, 670,000 SMEs closed down in the first half of the year nationwide. As for textile and clothing industry --- the typical labor-intensive sector, 10,000 companies shut down, and more than two thirds facing restructuring.
