On July 14, China Apparel disclosed about U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) charges illegal textile shipments to China’s quota levels. Previous reported that U.S. Customs will adjust related products import volumes in 2008.
According to Attorney Brian Murphy in American SSSPO (Stein Shostak Shostak Pollack&O’Hara, LLP) to verify with U.S. Customs, four million dozens individual importations will charged to quota levels in 2006 and 2007. Because these two years without embargo, it is not affect to import volumes in 2008 but reflect political posturing and strictly enforce the law of U.S.
If there is sufficient data to prove that the volumes of illegal shipments in 2008, U.S. Customs still possible to adjust in related categories of China textile clothing imports this year.
