After the May 12 quake in Sichuan, many garment enterprises and their employees have tried various ways to help our compatriots in the disaster-hit areas. According to reliable statistics, by 17:00, May 21, 2008, a total of 98 garment and related enterprises have contributed more than 250 million Yuan of money and materials to the disaster area for earthquake relief.
Some garment enterprises donated to the disaster area the day after the Quake. Shandong Yeliya Garment Group sent cars to the disaster area immediately in order to give out the relief supplies as soon as possible; Xiang Bingwei, chairman of Zhi Wei Group, led a 11 people quake relief team and drove to the disaster area for disaster recovery. As the news gradually spread out, more and more enterprises took actions and some companies have donated more than once. At present, fund-raising activities are still going on. Besides money and materials, some enterprises hope that they may adopt orphans in the disaster area; some are active in blood donation, hoping to contribute to disaster area.
Although the apparel industry itself is in a relatively difficult period, the enterprises still try their best to help people in disaster area. Thank the employees of these enterprises for the Quake relief contributions, and let us make our common wish that people in Sichuan can rebuild their home as soon as possible with a calm and peaceful life.
