Journalist from Chongqing Times reported on Monday that a down wear brand YAHONG put up a band at its stand in Chongqing Department Store, saying it will recall a certain category of their down wear products. Chongqing Apparel Association also confirmed this practice to the press. This was believed the first recall case in the apparel industry in China.
The category, manufactured by Chongqing Huayu Garment Co., Ltd., was blacklisted by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine for its unqualified down content. Official from Chongqing Bureau of Quality and Technology Supervision pointed out that down content directly contributed to the thermal capacity of a down wear and its price.
“Recall practice won’t stop after this case, we will keep it on to further regulate the apparel industry.”said Chen Shangfu, Secretary General of Chongqing Apparel Association.
