China : Cocoon quality inspection center to come up at Jiangsu

Jiangshu Academy of Agriculture Sciences has planned to set up a quality and safety inspection center for cocoon industry, in Zhenjiang city.
This project will need two years to complete and an investment of around 21.36 million yuan. The building includes, a laboratory, which will cover an area of 1800 square meters, and glasshouse mulberry garden of 500 square meters. This scheme will also have 493 sets of advance equipments for quality examination.
This center will supervise and inspect the products like silk, cosmetic, the pesticides for cocoon and mulberry industry. It will also help to perfect the quality and safety inspection system of Chinese agriculture products and play an important role in protecting the rights and interests of consumers.
With the completion of this project, the inspection capability of Jiangsu Province will go up to from 46 pieces to 782 pieces, up around 5000 times.
Currently, China has planted over four billion mulberry trees and has over 100 factories to produce pesticides for cocoon and mulberry.
