Recently, 8,946 pairs of shoes made by a company in Taizhou, worth more than US $40,000, were shipped back home from Belgium, for suspected violation of intellectual property rights.
Reportedly, this company did not obtain necessary information regarding the orders, prior to production.
After the goods arrived at the buyer’s port, the company received a notice that alleged these shoes to be counterfeits of a registered brand in Europe. To avoid further losses, the company had to ship all the shoes back home.
According to statistics, Ningbo Customs recorded 96 such cases of infringement in the first half year, worth of 13.92 million yuan.
