Hong Kong : Black & grey tones to reign supreme in 2008

Last month, we promised you more design directions for Summer 2008. So, here goes......
• Go Back to Black, White & Grey:
Neutralisation of colours remains a real trend. So black, white, black & white and greys are decidedly cool. Black&white mini graphics in geometric or ethnic forms are mixed together and transformed into printed stripes. It's the ideal graphical play of light and dark.
Regarded more as winter colours, black and grey bring a dark cast to the season's colour range, resulting in a more toned-down palette.
Add coatings to black and grey for a glossy effect and set these against matt surfaces for a chic attitude.
• Go Shimmery:
Metallic dresses, bags and shoes are 'must-haves' in any fashionista's wardrobe and continues to hold true for this season.
However, metallics (whether in gold, silver, copper or bronze) are ever-so-slightly more muted that in previous seasons, with a more subtle shimmer and shine. Tasteful is the operative word.
• Go for the Luxury of Leather:
There is so much more to leather these days. New techniques and processes such as embossing, laser-cutting, printing, engraving, embroidery, and surface texturing have transformed standard skins to impossibly beautiful and luxurious leathers.
For Summer 2008, it's all about leather as a second skin. Leather bags must be soft and supple and worn close to the body.
Unusually, leather is cut-out, made into strips and fringed before being transformed into free-style, eccentric, even savage shapes.
