China : Foreign trade soars this year

Custom’s report shows that foreign trade value in January-April this year reached US $635.73 billion, up 23.6 percent compared with the growth in the same period last year.
Exports accounted for $349.52 billion, an increase of 27.5 percent, 0.3 percent less than the first quarter. Imports were $286.21 billion, an increase of 19.1 percent, and 0.9 percent rise than the first quarter.
Customs statistics showed that China's import and export value amounted to $178.02 billion in April, a boost of 2.2 percent.
Exports were $97.45 billion, an improvement of 26.8 percent, 1 percent less from the first quarter. Imports stood at $80.57 billion, an increase of 21.3 percent, and 3.1 percent higher than the first quarter.
The month achieved a trade surplus of $16.88 billion, 37.5 percent lower from the first quarter.
