Recently, the U.S. Department of Commerce worked out its ultimate arbitration on Chinese textile companies which have filed a lawsuit against its anti-dumping investigation.
Cixi Jiangnan Chemical Co., Ltd. won zero tariff, Ningbo Dafa Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. 4.86%, and other Chinese companies responding to the anti-dumping investigation 4.44% averagely, compared with as high as 44.3% for those who give no response.
The anti-dumping investigation on Chinese polyester staple fibre is called the largest one on Chinese textiles, involving 20 Chinese companies and a total value of more than USD 50 million. Dafa and Jiangnan are the largest two companies involved, with involved value of USD 19 million and USD 14 million respectively.
At end-2006, the U.S. Department of Commerce decided to grant Jiangnan and Dafa tariff of 15.35% and 4.39%. In February 2007, the department assigned officers to investigate on the spot. China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles invited experts and U.S. lawyers on anti-dumping lawsuits to introduce the regulations and tactics and help involved companies get prepared for the lawsuit. At last, facts showed that Chinese companies have not caused damage or dumping to U.S.
Ningbo is a famous textiles production and export base in China. This time, relatively objective and just judge of U.S. is beneficial to the improvement of operation conditions of Chinese textile companies in the U.S. and the reduction of similar trade friction.
