Output of tourist shoes accounts for 40 percent of the national production, and 20 percent of the world production. That is to say, one pair of every five sports shoes in the world is produced from Jinjiang City.
On the opening day of the exhibition, more than 1,500 professional buyers from over 60 countries and regions attended the procurement event.
At present, Jinjiang City has more than 3,000 shoe-making enterprises, of which over 250 are above-scale and 46 are with output value over 100 million yuan. Jinjiang has formed an entire industry chain and production clusters in complete footwear varieties, specifications and over hundreds of footwear items.
According to statistics, footwear exports from Jinjiang hit 503 million pairs in 2006, export value marked US $1.37 billion. Average export price for footwear rose by 10.2 percent from the previous year.
