The five-year’s protection period after China's accession to the WTO concluded, 2007 is the first year for China to truly open to the world, ‘China concept’ will become an indispensable element in the global system.
‘Chinese shoes’, as a noun, is being redefined by the world. A senior official of the Industrial Development of the UN said, it’s no way to seek a place on the global scale to replace China for footwear production and exports in the future.
Country’s shoes are interpreting their pivotal position in the world arena with their own pace. In the 13 billion pairs of world footwear production, China produces 10 billion pairs, exports about 7 billion pairs, and accounts for over 60 percent of world footwear production. In other words, with population of over six billion on earth, every person, on average, has atleast one pair of shoe made from China.
Director of Leather Association, Xu Yong Ze believes that while seeking profit target, shoe manufacturers should never forget the great goal of the entire leather industry. Footwear industry must promote the growth of the industry in international market, and enhance China’s share in international market.
He said, "More important is that we must strengthen our own intellectual property rights and upgrade our own brands, so as to transform from ‘made from China’ to ‘created by China’ as soon as possible."
