In November 2006, Fujian province exported only 2 million pairs of shoes, a decline of 58 percent. Export value of shoes in November this year was US $17 million compared to $34 million in the same period last year.
During January to November, leather shoes export to EU has decreased by 16 percent.
Due to anti-dumping duty on Chinese leather shoes by European Union, nearly 300 footwear units have been affected in Fujian province.
According to industry experts, shoe units in the province should set up their manufacturing units in foreign countries. Certain units have already set up their factory in countries like Russia and Vietnam.
