On the invitation from China Cotton Association, a delegation of 12 members from US National Cotton Council (NCC) headed by Chairman Allen Helms is visiting Beijing for 10 days research.

The delegation comprises farmers, ginners, representatives of warehouse companies and cotton traders from main cotton producing areas.

The activity is organized by the cotton associations of both countries, which represents an important part in the exchange system of bilateral cotton cooperation.

During the visit, delegation will also discuss the issues over cooperation between the two cotton associations and cotton industries.

China and the US are the two most important countries in world cotton industry. China s textile industry has not only been a traditional brace in China s industries but has also contributed to world economic development.

China imports large quantity of cotton to meet domestic demand every year. In 2005-06 cotton seasons, China imported 4.11 million tons of cotton, of which 47 percent were imported from US.
