China imported large quantities of Australian cotton in September

It is reported that the 2005/06 Australian cotton demand remains strong. In September, the Australian cotton shipment reached 65,000 tons, which is the highest level since June of this year. However, it is a year-on-year decrease of 13.1%. In August-September this year, the Australian cotton shipment reached 121,600 tons, 23.3% less than the corresponding period of last year.

In September, China is the largest buyer of Australian cotton (17,600 tons, a year-on-year drop of 49%), in the next places are Indonesia (17,500 tons, a 37% reduction), Thailand, South Korea, Japan and Pakistan.
