Ethiopian leather products are a hot favourite in China these days along with the European markets thanks to initiatives taken by the Government, informed the Chairman of Ethiopian Leather and Leather Products' Producers Association, Abdissa Adugna.
He informed that Ethiopia earned US $14 million from leather exports to China during the previous financial year of Ethiopia. He praised Ethiopian embassy in Beijing for their contribution in promotion of these products by organizing exhibitions and trade fairs.
The Chairman said that they were trying to educate farmers and businessmen related to the industry on how to avert wastage of hides and skin products. He also emphasized the need to improve the quality and varieties of leather products in order to meet the demands of international market.
