TID circular on EU footwear anti-dumping actions

Trade and Industry Department (TID), Hong Kong announces the further to Commercial Information Circular No. 230/2005 of 30 June 2005, the European Commission (the Commission) published a Decision on 29 August 2006 to terminate the anti-dumping proceedings concerning imports of footwear with a protective toecap originating in, inter alia, the mainland of China.
The Commission published a notice on 30 June 2005 to initiate an anti-dumping proceeding on imports of footwear with a protective toecap originating in, inter alia, the mainland of China.
As the applicant withdrew its complaint in July 2006, the Commission decided that the anti-dumping proceeding on footwear with a protective toecap should be terminated.
The Commission initiated anti-dumping proceedings on i) footwear with protective toecap; and ii) footwear with uppers of leather originating in, inter alia, the mainland of China on 30 June and 7 July 2005 respectively.
On ii), the Commission imposed a 6-month provisional anti-dumping duty on certain footwear starting from 7 April 2006.

The Commission is expected to announce its decision on whether to terminate the proceeding or impose definitive anti-dumping duties on those footwear by 6 October 2006.
