China extends anti-dumping investigation on imported resin

Write: Leyman [2011-05-20]
Chinas Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday it would extend an anti-dumping investigation into a resin produced in Japan and Taiwan Province for another three months till Sept. 6.

Sources with the ministrys Fair Trade Bureau put the complexity of the case as the only reason for the protraction of final judgment, but declined to give any information on developments.

A preliminary judgment said imports of polybutylene terephthalate resin, mainly used in automobile, instrument and machine, lighting, electric appliance, textiles and telecommunications products, had damaged mainland producers.

Domestic importers have been required to submit cash deposits to the mainland customs authorities since March 22. If the preliminary judgment is confirmed by the final investigation, importers will forfeit their deposits to offset damages to domestic producers.
