CNCotton: Boosted by higher seed cotton procurement price in 2005, cotton planting in Hebei province grows to 1.63 million acres this spring, up 8.8% from last season. Cotton sowing, although delayed by the severe drought and cold weather in April, received sufficient input this year and established a good start for a bumper crop in 2006.
According to a local survey, the traditional cotton region in south Hebei province maintained cotton acres with an increase of 1.5% over 2005. The center of the province saw an expansion of 18.1% and planting in the east part surged 8.9%.
