Macaos exports, imports up in Feb

Macaos exports and imports rose 21.7 percent and 42.9 percent respectively in February over the same period of 2005, according to official statistics issued in Macao on Tuesday.
The figures from the government-run Statistics and Census Services showed that textile and garment exports, which accounted for 77.1 percent of Macaos total export value in the month, witnessed a year-on-year rise of 39.2 percent.
The United States and the European Union remained as Macaos major export markets in February, jointly making up 51.4 percent of the total export value, the figures showed.
Meanwhile, the regions major suppliers of imported goods remained mainly in Asia, the statistics displayed.
The Chinese mainland and Hong Kong jointly constituted 51.7 percent of the total imports value in the month, according to the statistics.
