The weaker demand for cotton fabric was evident in a Textile Mall located in Zhejiang province during the week ending May 14. Total offtake was almost unchanged from week ago level while price saw a moderate decline.
During the week, 100% cotton knitting and tatting fabric trade totaled 6.10 million meters, down slightly from week ago and 50% lower compared to same period of last season. The mainstream styles 16S-40S yarns showed a weaker price. Sales 20-40S print sheet were slack, with price down 0.10-0.20 yuan per meter.
Analysts thought the lack of orders and weaker demand are the main reasons for the dull market. In addition, lower temperature also affects sales. It is expected that no change is likely to occure in the cotton cloth market in short term.
