Vice-chairman of China Textile Industry Association Xu Kunyuan said in Hangzhou on May.29 that textile trade dispute brought by China is not as severe as occident said.

Xu kunyuan said in 2006 China Textile & Dying forum that during"11th five year plan:"period, China textile export increase continually due to optimizing structure and specially the scrap of quota. In 2000, China textile account fro 15% of global bargain, reaching 25% in 2005, up 10%. However, the big increase does not mean that textile trade dispute is severe as occident country and media propagandize.

Xu kunyuan said that quota is just a trade discrimination policy. Though China is a big textile manufacture country, the quota it got from occident is even less than1/3, lower that 1/4 of Vietnam. Therefore, when the quota is scrapped in 2005, China textile export increases obviously. He thinks "We should not go out to dump" is an error saying and misleading, occident should reflect on the fundamental reason for textile trade dispute.

He said that the quick development of China textile industry make contribution to national economy by offering the job for 19.6 million population and sustain the living of 0.1billion peasants. Of course, there are still many problems, such as the overstock of production of textile & dying industry, the increasing homogeneous competition, the weak innovation capability of enterprise, some of them just conduct process with overseas material, process according to order, OEM, a great number of them just make small profit and have no influential brand and the strength in different competition. In the meantime, He also said that China is striving to change this status and transfer from big textile country to powerful one.
