China indoor environment committee takes out eight plush toys with different brands and inspects the content of formaldehyde and bacteria on the surface fabric of plush toy. The inspection show that formaldehyde content in this fabric of children plush toy exceeds the standard. The formaldehyde in plush toy is mainly from the textile in the surface of toy. Some textile is even added to color-set agent, waterproof agent, soft agent, bonding agent etc, which include formaldehyde. Besides, some illegal factories even adopt the stuff which has formaldehyde. In the inspection, the stuff in formaldehyde has not been found, but the high content of bacteria in surface of plush toy sample is found and the bacteria amount in 50% sample exceed national standard.
China Indoor Environment Committee suggest to buy plush toy in normal marketplace and refuse to buy product of "three zero" if you want to buy and use toy. When you buy plush toy, you can smell the favor, the qualified toy smell fresh while unqualified one bad; also you can check whether the inside stuff is enough, feeling soft or stretchy.
