MoCs new policy may hit textile exporters with unutilised quotas

Write: Myron [2011-05-20]

With the restriction in textiles from China to the US and European Union, the issue of textile quotas have become all important.

Chinese textile enterprises who have exhausted their quotas for the US and EU will have to seek newer markets.

But those who have unutilized quotas in their account are in for trouble according to the new regulations that Ministry of Commerce are going to pursue.

It is learnt that those enterprises which have not exhausted their textile export quota may risk getting no new quotas issued for the future as it eliminates the prospects of other companies which have the capacity to satisfy orders from the US and the EU and have to remain wringing their hands, literally for want of quotas.

As a move, the government has been advised to control the quota price, lead export enterprises reasonably in their bidding process that should be more transparent, foremost, encourage textile export quota to be fully utilized and executed.
