According to the introduction from Mr. Yu Wanchun, during 2005/06, the output of color cotton is around 13,000 tons in China, which is accounted for 13% of the world color cotton output. Although China began to research color cotton only in recent years, but at present, the level has already exceeded the US, and researching bases are covered Anhui, Henan, Hubei and Xinjiang etc.
However, in 2005, China has consumed 17,000 tons color cotton, and in 2006, the consumption volume is only 10,000 tons, why color cotton can only attract people s attention but can t be purchased by people?
Mr. Yu Wanchun thinks, the deep reasons for consumption decrease of color cotton in China is: firstly, at present, the color cotton market exists both high quality cotton and inferior cotton, the phenomenon of using dyed cotton to replace color cotton is very much. Some places such as Buyang of Anhui Province and Heze of Shandong Province are dying cotton; the consumers are deeply harmed; Secondly, comparing with ordinary cotton, the natural color cotton is less in output and color categories are less and the quality have to be improved; thirdly, the production cost of color cotton is high, and the requirements for natural fertilizers and growing environments are very high, the cotton farmers enthusiasm for planting such kind of cotton is not high.

Since the main countries and regions with high color cotton consumption volume such as the US and the Europe raise stricter requirements for chemicals of color dying agents, the using volume of natural fibers is anticipated to be increased gradually, the color cotton market will be gradually enlarged.
