The China Nantong Domestic Textile Copyright Exchange came into operation in Nantong Zhihao Domestic Textile Town, Jiangsu Province, which marked the establishment of the first domestic textile copyright exchange in China.
Now, the designs of domestic textiles can be promoted to domestic and foreign textile manufacturers through the exchange.
China Nantong Domestic Textile Town was developed from Nantong Zhihao Domestic Textile Market, whose sales revenue reached nearly 10 billion yuan (US$1.25 billion) in 2005.
In the year 1997, the first copyright office was founded by farmers independently in Zhihao Market. So far, the office has issued more than 10,000 certificates.
With the establishment of the exchange, local designs can be transacted, Nantong's designs can go out to international markets and domestic and foreign designs can enter Nantong Domestic Textile Town.
According to the copyright office, the exchange focuses on the transactions of pictorial art works of printed cloth and the transfer of registration certificates and right to use the designs. It will help domestic textile enterprises invigorate stock, reduce piracy in manufacturing enterprises, and promote independent innovation of domestic textile designs.
