China : Textile export growth-rate slows down

Write: Amadeus [2011-05-20]

Custom-house statistics reveal that with the US and the EU imposing anti-dumping laws on Chinese textile and clothing, the export growth-rate has slowed down.

Many Guangdong and Zhejiang units have set up offices overseas, which has reduced the adverse effects considerably.

However, lack of technical knowledge and skilled labour has prevented production of high quality garments, decreasing the overseas demand.

Although monthly wage is far ahead of RMB1000, it is still very difficult to recruit qualified workers.

Top-grade clothing designers are far from enough. At present, prominent clothing designers can have a yearly salary from RMB200,000 to RMB500,000.

Highest yearly salary is RMB1 million.
