E China port sees booming trade with Japan

Ningbo, a major trade port in east China's Zhejiang Province, recorded 3.61 billion U.S. dollars in trade with Japan in the first three quarters of this year, a year-on-year growth of 12.7 percent.

According to local customs sources, the total included 1.80 billion U.S. dollars in export value, up 13.2 percent, and 1.81 billion dollars in import value, up 12.2 percent.

Between January and September, Ningbo sold to Japan 564 million dollars worth of machines and electronics, 450 million dollars worth of textile products and raw materials, 305 million dollars worth of farm produce.

Meanwhile, the city bought from Japan 529 million dollars worth of machines and electronics, 506 million dollars worth of metal and related products and 504 million dollars worth of chemical products.

Over the nine months, foreign-funded businesses accounted for 2.1 billion dollars, or 57.8 percent, of the city's total trade with Japan.
