China : Professional apparel annual demand nears 30 bn yuan

It is learned from the organizing committee of the 'First Summit Forum on Government Procurement of China's Professional Wear' that China's occupational dress demand is close to 30 billion yuan per year, with 19 uniformed services having about 50 million people who must wear occupational uniforms. So China's professional apparel market has become a piece of bit cake.
From a news conference held on November 3, 'China's first professional clothing government procurement summit' will be held on March 30, 2007 for three days. This will be the first exchanging event between national government procurement sector and the garment sector.
Since the promulgation of the 'PRC government procurement law', uniform procurement has become an important component of China's government procurement. Occupational apparel fashion, appearance and standards have great significance for enterprises, government departments and even concerning their images.
Currently, there are army, taxation, customs, quality inspection, industrial and commercial, public security, courts, procuratorates, banking, postal, aviation, railways, hospitals, 19 career uniformed services in total. However, there are still lags far behind some foreign occupational clothing, which does not adequately show their working features, or lack of uniform appearance.
'China's first professional clothing government procurement Summit' will discuss about some hot issues, such as government procurement cycle on occupational clothing, quota preferences, order process, purchasing techniques, services after delivery, and regulation.
About 600 experts and representives from regarding departments and garment enterprises will attend the forum.
