Zhejiang Pinghu city government recently informed that Pinghu City was listed by China Garment Association as the first pilot zone of 'Chinese garment transnational procurement base, after Chinese Textile Industry Association and China Garment Association awarded Pinghu city the title of'China's export garment manufacturing city'in 2002.
It is learned that the move will promote Pinghu's construction of related industries cluster docking the supply chain system of transnational procurement, laying a foundation for boosting internationalization.
Pinghu garment industry is mainly featured in garment production for export, basically processing trade, and product lines in production. Pinghu is also one of the main production bases for clothing exports.
Currently Pinghu City has 1,300 garment enterprises, employing 150,000 people, producing 280 to 300 million pieces of clothing a year, 119 garment enterprises directly involved in exports.
A large number of garment enterprises carry indirect exports through some foreign trade companies in Shanghai and Hangzhou. Export rate accounts for 95 percent of the total garment production, and entire sales reach 13.6 billion yuan.
