Men's fashion was the big winner at this year's Chinese clothing industry awards, scooping top honors in four categories.

The Oscars of the Chinese fashion world were recently announced, following votes by more than one million consumers, and six months of appraisal.

Ten awards were bestowed for best brands of the year.

Chinese menswear make its mark, with the top award for Best Achievement going to Hodo, whose annual income reached 14 billion yuan.

The casualwear brand, Septwolves won Best Market Value, while Peace Bird, another high-end men's brand, took home the Best Innovation Award.

Jodoll, a brand from Zhejiang province focusing on men's business suits, won the Best Quality Award.

Of the remaining honors, young womenswear brand Exception won Best Style for its unique designs combining world fashion with Chinese cultural elements. White Collar, a women's label less than 10 years old, scooped the Best Sale Award thanks to its soaring business in 2006.

The Best Public Award went to Bosideng, the most popular brand of downcoat in the local market. The Best Planning Award went to Aimer, an innovative lingerie brand that organized national design competitions, held free lectures and launched several recent lingerie shows.

The committee's new award, for Foreign Brands' Best Performance in the Chinese Market, has also caught great public attention. Only and Zegna were named winners, for their great inroads with Chinese consumers since entering the domestic market.

Humen Woman's Wear Industry Development committee won the Best Promotion Award, for its operations in Humen, the once unknown town in Guangdong Province, which has since developed into one of the biggest female clothing manufacturing bases in China.

Since their launch in 2004, the Best Chinese Brands awards have become the most important event in Chinese clothing industry. According to the organizing committee, appraisal for this year's awards involved tallying three months of web voting from millions of consumers, two months' local investigations in 1,200 department stores all over the country, and the final discussion of the judging committee made up of dozens of fashion professionals and entrepreneurs.
