China: Silk Yarn Producers Prepare for Indian Anti-Dumping Probe

China's Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Textiles (CCIET) stated that Chinese yarn producers are working hard to prevent new anti-dumping probe raised by Indian Government.

Cao Xinyu, Vice-Chairman of the chamber informed that the yarn companies have consulted law firms and are prepared to submit materials to the responsible Indian agency.

However, the number of companies is still unknown, as the Indian Government has not unveiled the particular targets of its probe.

The chamber entered into talks with the Indian side and proposed to extend the probe deadline, as Indian anti-dumping procedures are uncertain.

India launched a anti-dumping probe in the beginning of July following the accusations by the country's Central Silk Board. This is the third anti-dumping probe India has launched against Chinese silk products in just 12 months.

The chamber of commerce has urged the Indian Government to provide information and guidance to the companies for the first two charges that are ongoing.

The chamber will appeal for non-material injury to the Indian industry, at the same time the companies will work separately for their market economy treatment and separate duties, opined Cao.

The chamber will also talk with chain-end Indian customers, who use Chinese silk yarn as a main raw material for their apparel exports, to prove non-material injury.
