According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in July the fabric output increase rapidly and steadily. The monthly fabric output was 3,150 million meters and the output from Jan. to July was 20.388 bil-lion meters, surging 19.36% year on year. The cotton fabric of Jan. to July was 10.787 billion me-ters, climbing 25.52% on the previous year. The cotton fabric output accounts for 53% of the total fabric output.
Shanghai and Jiangsu are the biggest weaving provinces. From Jan. to July, Shangdong manufac-tured fabric of 4.904 billion meters, increasing 34.8% year on year. The cotton fabric output was 3.292 billion meters, reflecting 49.7% increase year on year. July is the first month when Zhejiang surpassed Jiangsu, with fabric output of 4.475 billion meters in the first seven months, showing in-crease of 17.83%. The cotton fabric output was 567 million meters, up by 31.86% year on year. Ji-angsu, listed as No. 3, produced 3.075 million meters of fabric during the period, increasing 22.85% year on year. The cotton fabric output increased 13.75% to 1.87 billion meters.
Till July (Sep. 2004-July 2005), China produced 16.365 billion meters of cotton fabric.
