Malaysian Textiles Suppliers may Stand in for China

Continuing blockade of Chinese textiles at European ports and the Sino-US talks underway, has provided a golden opportunity for Malaysia as German textile and apparel importers stop placing orders on China.

Even a spokesman of the German Fashion Trade Association in Malaysia said that Malaysians could provide quality apparel products at competitive prices.

Malaysian companies have already set shop in low-cost countries like Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam, that will ensure they make most of the opportunity avaiable.

German fashion houses cater to fast changing and price sensitive markets and further with the delayed Chinese shipments and fast depleting stocks, they may turn to Malaysia and other Asian countries, media source informed.

German companies normally place orders on Chinese companies atleast nine month in advance, and also pay in advance for the consignments.

Now, with the delayed consignments, depleting stocks and harried consumers, they will have no other alternative but to settle for Malaysian and other Asian sources for replenishing their apparel and textile stocks.
