Brand building, a necessity for clothing enterprises

Gao Hucheng, Vice Minister of Commerce said that every year many new brands are developed in China, however, most of these fade away within two years.
Among Chinese textile exports, over 80 percent of clothing is sold under the trademarks, styles and patterns of the international brands. Only 10 percent of the products are exported under China's own clothing brands.
Experts say that after the country brought in new policies for economic growth and industrial restructuring, China's textile industry started taking brand creation seriously. But the enterprises are still focusing on low and mid range markets, thus, leaving only handful of brands for high end range.
Analysts are urging the Government to support this effort by promoting the brand building strategy.
