China : Clothing shops in Dalian learn display design

As part of its efforts to teach clothing enterprises of Dalian city the art of 'special display design', China Clothing Designers' Association started the first course on the subject at its training centre.
'Special display design' is the technique of arranging clothes in showrooms in a way that attracts customers. Dalian, though famous for the quality of clothes and its many clothing shops, lacked display sense. This was found out by national-level clothing display experts when they visited marketplaces in Dalian.
China Clothing Designers' Association reminded local clothing enterprises that they must pay adequate attention to the way in which their garments are displayed or else they would lose customers.
According to international standards, any clothing enterprise must set up a special display department; research conducted in this area shows that proper display of clothes can push sales up to 40 percent.
Though China has about 60,000 clothing display professionals, it needs 16,000 more.
