Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai, met with Italian Minister Scajola and his delegation in Xiamen on September 8, who came to participated in the 9th China International Investment Trade Fair.

Minister Bo Xilai expressed welcome to Mr. Scajola and his delegation, and said that China-Italian economic and trade relations got closer day by day, but there was still a big room for expansion in view of economic strength of the two countries. China and Italian have plenty of small and medium enterprises, and we should create favorable conditions for their cooperation.

Minister Bo Xilai invited Italian enterprises to China to seek more investment opportunity and said the Ministry of Commerce was willing to give help and support. Mr. Scajola expressed his satisfactory for China-Italian economic and trade relations development.

The two-way investment is relatively little in scale, it is a efficient way for expanding the two-way investment to strengthen cooperation of small and medium enterprises, and Italian government will encourage enterprises to carry out investment and cooperation with China.

When talking about textiles, Minister Bo Xilai said that China had made commitment on opening up the market when entering into the WTO, opening-up of Chinese market is equivalent to some developed countries.

Textile integrity is the deserved rights of China in the WTO. China firmly opposes some European and American countries to take measures of trade protection on textiles, and we hope Italy can insist on principal of free trade.
