China : Batch of poor quality wool found in Belgium imports

A Shanghai based company imported 6,450 kg of wool, worth US $21,285 from Belgium in June. When Wuxi city's Inspection Bureau for Textile Raw Materials examined them, a batch of inferior quality wool weighing 259.6 kg and worth US $856.68 was found and disqualified.
Experts said that use of these substandard wool might affect processing and production of Chinese enterprises and result in losses to the company.
Few of China's importers have attempted to infiltrate low grade products illegally and tried to mix them with fine domestic production. Local companies have drawn Government's attention to this problem.
China's General Bureau for Quality Inspection has issued a notice related to this and told wool importers that they, together with the local inspection department, must keep a tab on the illegal purchases and low quality wool.
