A large number of opportunities exist for Indian exporters in the global textile market. For India to capture a larger share of this market, in the post quota regime, both the industry players as well as the government have to take many steps.

? will support you and put forward to the Prime Minister as well as the Commerce Ministry, your suggestions and provide industry players all the support to make the India Brand in textiles popular? said Shankarsinh Vaghela, Union Minister for Textiles, Government of India while speaking at the Inaugural Session of the India Textile Summit, 2005, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today.

The Minister further added, ?rice is not always the driving factor, and there are things, we as the representatives of the government and you as the representatives of the industry can do now to forestall any market erosion or loss of opportunity.?

While defining action points for the industry, the Minister urged industry players to go upstream in the value chain by capitalizing its efficient and competitive raw material base. ?e need a wide range of quality products, which should be constantly upgraded. Care should be taken to offer products at most competitive prices, taking advantage of the cost efficiency of the country.?he added.

Shankarsinh Vaghela also said, ? would like to see India become the preferred sourcing destination of discerning International buyers.?He defined reliability of exporters as a major factor for India to increase its share in the global textile market.
