Wuxi inspection and quarantine department recently conducted a sample inspection with 101 batches of imported textiles including processing materials. The products were checked for AZO dyes, formaldehyde, pH and other harmful contents which are unsafe to health and environment.
Around 10 batches were found to contain high pH levels while two batches carried excessive formaldehyde content. These products were imported from Japan, Jordan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Wuxi inspection and quarantine departments proposed that enterprises should learn more about latest standards of ecological textiles and common standards of textile and apparel in international and domestic markets. In particular, processing trade enterprises should collect more information about inspection standards of importing countries.
