Textile companies in Taiwan are accepting new technologies to keep their clothes hot.

As per the statistics published by Taiwan Textile Federation, total production of quality yarns rose by 19 percent to touch US $2.3 billion which is 18 percent of the world market.

The Federation also stated that value-added fibres registered an 18 percent increase in production value to US $1.22 billion, which was 10 percent of global market.

Taiwan's global market share in almost all sections went up during the first five months of this year.

At present, fabrics from Taiwan comprise 59 percent of the total market while woven fabrics make up 23 percent and special fabrics 24 percent.

Federation also reported that total value of textile manufacturing in Taiwan increased 6 percent to US $12.54 billion in 2004.

Native producers are also taking interest by joining trade fairs like Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show, organised recently which was attended by more than 2000 foreign buyers.

Far Eastern Textile Ltd, Eagelon and Solarfree are among those leading companies of Taiwan who have moved in to technology-heavy production.

Flame-retardant fibers, quick-dry fibers, anti-bacterial fibers, and UV-cut fibers are the four series of 'functional' textiles presented by industry leader Far Eastern recently.
