98th Session of Chinese Export Commodities Fair

The 98th Session of Chinese Export Commodities Fair began on October 13, 2005 at Chinese Export Commodities Fair (Pazhou) Complex (Xingang Dong Road, Haizhu, Guangzhou, China) and at Chinese Export Commodities Fair (Liuhua) Complex (117 Liu Hua Road, Guangzhou, China).

The fair is being held in two phases and according to Mr. Xu Bing, Vice Secretary General and Spokesman of the CECF
the exhibition scale keeps expanding, and the exhibition pattern remains as in two phases and at two complexes.

This time he informed that there are 28,808 booths, 798 more than the previous fair. The gross exhibition area reaches 576,000 square meters, and the net exhibition area is 259,000 square meters.

Phase I will be held from October 15th to 20th and Phase II from 25th to 30th. October 21st to 24th is for fair interval. 5 categories of exhibits will be shown in 34 exhibition sections. Detailed layout is as follows:

Liuhua Complex:

There will be two categories in Phase One. One of them is Textile and Garments, in which 6311 booths in 7 exhibition sections will display products including Garments, Household Textiles, Carpets & Tapestries, Textile Raw Materials & Fabrics, Artex, Furs, Leather, Down & Relational Products; Another one is the Medicines and Health Products, in which 454 booths will show products of Medicines, Health Products and Hospital Equipment. For the Phase II, there will be 6751 booths in 8 exhibition sections, exhibiting Gifts, Decorations, Toys, Wickerwork Articles, Horticultural Products, Clocks, Watches & Optical Instruments, Office Supplies, Sporting Goods, and Tour Equipment & Casual Goods.

Pazhou Complex:

7739 booths in 10 exhibition sections in Pazhou Complex for the Phase I will show Industrial Products, such as Household Electrical Appliances, Electronics & IT Products, Lamps & Lighting Fixtures, Tools, Machinery & Equipment, Small Vehicles & Spare Parts, Hardware, Building Materials, Chemical Products & Mineral Products, Vehicles & Construction Machinery. There are 7553 booths in 8 exhibition sections for the Phase II will show Consumer Goods, including Articles of Daily Use, Cases & Bags, Native Produce & Animal By-products, Furniture, Ceramics, Houseware, Kitchenware & Tableware, Foodstuff & Tea, and Stone & Iron Products (Outdoor Area).

Secondly, Number of Exhibitors keeps Increasing.

There are 50 trading delegations at this Fair. That is 12,655 exhibitors in total, which means 376 more than the previous session.

Within all the exhibitors, 6,877 of them will attend the Phase I, and the rest 5,778 will visit the Phase II. In terms of the business type of exhibitors, there are 6,362 manufacturers, accounting for 50.27% of the total. 5,613 foreign trading companies and 633 industrial trading enterprises participate the fair, taking up 44.35% and 5% of the total respectively.

There are also 11 scientific research institutions and 36 companies of the rest, accounting for 0.09% and 0.28% of the whole. In terms of ownership of exhibitor, there are 4,085 state owned enterprises, accounting 32.28% of total exhibitors; 4,628 private owned enterprises, accounting for 36.57%; and 2388 foreign invested enterprises, with a share of 18.87%. 418 collective enterprises , and 1136 other enterprises will attend the fair, accounting for 3.3% and 8.98% of the complete exhibitors.

For the buyers?sourcing and negotiation convenience, organizers have made some adjustment on some exhibition sections with reference to the International Standard and the relevance between the classification of commodities and relative exhibition sections.

Some of the exhibition sections have been adjusted on the 98th session as follows:

Exhibition Hall 12 and 14, which will be put into use in Phase One, making a total exhibition area of 16,000 square meters, will serve as Textile Raw Materials & Fabrics exhibition hall.

The Exhibition Section of Food stuffs & Tea, which was originally in CECF (Liuhua) Complex in Phase One, will be exhibited in Exhibition Section of Consumer Goods in CECF (Pazhou) Complex in Phase Two.

The Exhibition Section of Footwear & Headgear, which was originally in CECF (Pazhou) Complex in Phase Two, will be exhibited in Exhibition Section of Textiles and Garments in CECF (Liuhua) Complex in Phase One.

The Exhibition Section of Jewellery, Bone Carvings & Jade Carvings will be cancelled, and the relative exhibits will be shown in the Exhibition Section of Gifts in CECF (Liuhua) Complex in Phase Two.

The exhibition scale of Brand Zone is expanding steady in this session. With an increase rate of 20%, 676 new booths are added to the zone, reaching a total number of 4036 booths in Brand Zone and accounts 14% of the total amount of booths in the fair.

In order to improve the performance of exhibition, we have carried out further enforcement management and seek the unity of booths of brand products, new and special products and those in the key exhibition zone. A new Brand Product sector has alos been launched. The number of custom-built booths is increased to 11,264, growth by 15% to the last session and accounts for 39% of total exhibition zone. We have also started trail on the beautification of the standard booth by setting 192 of them in the Electronic & IT Product zone as our first experiment.

Fourthly, Inviting More Buyers and Strengthening Marketing Strategies

This session, 280,000 invitations have been sent out to our regular buyers over 210 countries and regions, with an increase of 13.8% over the last fair. Meanwhile, e-invitation system has also been resorted to, to expand the system scale in varies channels. Thus, potential buyers and the world? top retailers are being attracted to this fair in a big way.

Multinationals Sourcing Service will be continued at Pazhou Complex. 8 multinational buyers adopting the service are Carrefour from France, Leroy Merlin from France, Auchan from France, QVC from U.S.A., ATICO from U.S.A., Central Purchasing LLC from U.S.A., Watson's from Hong Kong SAR, and AIDA from Denmark.
