Korea: Strong Demand for Cotton Yarn in September

Month of September witnessed steady demand for imported cotton yarn as they climbed 13,373 tons showing a rise of 27 percent, year-on-year basis.

Shipments from India (+18.2 percent), Pakistan (+37 percent) and China (+43.6 percent) continued to grow with India and Pakistan grabbing 75 percent of the total imports volume share of cotton yarns by South Korea.

Thailand and Vietnam also exported large quantities of cotton yarn to South Korea.

However, the cumulative demand during January-September period for cotton yarn import declined at a 6.1 percent at 134,541 tons, year-on-year terms.

On the cotton yarn exports front, South Korea despatched 2,061 tons in September, that showed a drop of 9.6 percent on year-on-year basis.

During January through September period, cotton yarn exports reached 24,566 tons, recording a 5.2 percent year-on-year growth.
