Denmark: Globalized Textile Industry is Key to Danish Economy's Success Says Bendtsen

Industries in Denmark need to develop markets and products continuously to flourish with innovation as means for development and maintaining Denmark's prosperity, says Bendt Bendtsen, Minister of Economic and Business Affairs.

Growth Report published by government provided Bendtsen an opportunity for explaining methods with which Danish industry could continue to gain.

Danish textile industry, 'one of globalisation's winners', is required to improve products, production techniques and marketing policies, Bendtsen pointed out. Bendtsen indicated that the textile exports of DKK 15 billion (EUR 2 billion) showed industry's readiness to adjust.

'The industry has long outsourced the labour-intensive aspect, while Denmark has preserved itself as a centre for fashion, design, marketing, and logistics. That has made the industry quite competitive in relation to southern Europe, which has been brought to its knees and has sought quotas for protection,' he said.

Bendtsen added that the strong Danish economy gave the opportunity for additional tax deductions in the future.
