Taiwan : Chinese textile awaits affirmation

Write: Carlisle [2011-05-20]
Decision about allowing the entry of textiles from China to Taiwan has been postponed due to certain obscure reasons.
With regard to the issue, Mr Wu Hsin-hua, Deputy Director-general, Bureau of Foreign Trade, clarified growing misconceptions and affirmed that the postponement was not because of objections from Taiwan’s textile industry.
Mr Wu also asserted that the Government is intending to lax restrictions on particular goods, while the main concern will still be to prevent any foreign market from negatively influencing domestic industries.
A number of inconveniences have been caused to the domestic manufacturers and it can only be hoped that the decision will be taken soon.
