Govt. Abolishes Sales Tax from Textile Industry: Mushtaq Cheema

Addressing in the meeting held with the Chairman APTMA and textile manufacturers, he said government was actively considering the solution of problems of textile industry as sales tax had been abolished from the textile industry which was the main demand of this sector and out of court cases had been settled.

The minister said in the current global scenario Bangladesh, India and China were aggressively making policies with regards to value added goods/ industries in textile sector and we should compare with them so that we may stand in global competitiveness and more jobs be created.

He elaborated that he was in constants touch with the industry and urged the APTMA to feed back regarding their problems so that appropriate policies be made.

The federal minister emphasized that the textile industry was in emergent need of value addition in the current global scenario and to bring trained and skilled manpower from abroad for global competitiveness. He assured the APTMA the government will fully support the respective sector.
