Pakistan : KCA Witnesses Average Cotton Trade

With Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) spot rate at Rs 2375 per maund, cotton witnessed average trade where about 10,000 bales changed hands on Friday. Ginners of Punjab were the active sellers, dealers informed.

Top mills bought fine lots on higher prices even as quality Punjab lint fetched over Rs 2425 per maund.

Certain exporters brought some of their stocks in the market to fetch better rates for their substandard quality lots, said a senior broker.

Physical prices were ranged Rs 2300-2425 per maund, a broker said.

He said quality lint of Sindh sold at over Rs 2420 per maund, while small lot holding ginners also brought their stocks in the market.

KCA sources revealed that Khanewal stock of 600 bales transacted at Rs 2400, 400 Burewala bales sold at Rs 2400, Bahawalpur's 400 bales traded at Rs 2390, Chistian variety of 200 was sold at Rs 2400, 1000 bales of Mitru changed hands at Rs 800.

Mirpur Dewan stock of 2000 traded at Rs 2400 per maund, 400 bales of Choti at Rs 2410 per maund, 400 bales of Saleh Pat at Rs 2425 per maund, 600 bales of Rohri at Rs 2425 per maund, 1000 bales of Tando Dero at Rs 2425 per maund, 400 bales of Khanpur Mehra at Rs 2425 per maund and Ghotki's 400 bales went up in market at Rs 2400 per maund.

Meanwhile, it is reliably learnt that the Government would declare final estimates for cotton crop size in first week of January 2006, said a senior trader.
